Sirukurinjan leaves and stems are dried and ground into very fine powder. It is also called as Sarkkarai Kolli because of its capacity to reduce Diabetes. When we consume the leaves of this plant, for the next couple of minutes, our tongue will not be able to sense the sweet taste of Sugar. It can be used for the following.

1. Its Kashayam can be used to reduce Vadha Fever, and Cough.

2. It is now been used by people to control Diabetes.
