Koshtam is a rare plant grows only in Himalaya Hill Regions. Its roots and stems are having its strong odour and it is discovered by our ancestors long long ago. Its roots are collected, dried well, and available as a raw material. It is being used by our ancestors since thousands of years ago.
It is called as Creepe Ginger or Spiral Ginger or Costus Roots in English, Kushtha in Hindi, Kasmiramu or Kemuka or Koshtamu in Telugu, Kottam in Malayalam, Nari Kabbu in Kannada. Its Botanical Name is Hellenia Speciosa and Aplotaxis Auriculata.
