Kombarakku also called as Aragu is not a product of plant. It is the natural extract outcome of female Laccifer Lacca insects. It is collected from various trees like Poovarasu, Purasu and Ilanthai. It is available online as raw material. It is being used by our ancestors since ancient days.

It is called as Kombarakku in Tamil, Lac Gum or Shellac in English, Laakh in Hindi, Laka in Telugu, Kolarakku in Malayalam, Aragu in Kannada. Its Botanical Name is Laccifer Lacca.
