Ilavu also called as Silk Cotton is a big tree which grows in all over India. Ilavu is one of the fastest growing tree. Ilavam Pisin is the stem resin of Ilavu Tree, collected, dried well, and available as raw material. It is being used by oru ancestors since thousands of years ago.

It is called as Ilavu in Tamil, Silk Cotton Tree or Capok Tree in English, Semal Gum in Hindi, Bura Mara in Kannada, Panni Maram in Malayalam, Buruga Chettu in Telugu. Its Botanical Name is Bombax Pendandrum or Bombax Seiba.
