Kalarchikkai is a small creeper plant grows in roadside fencings and other trees. Its fruit is called as Kalarchikkai or Bonduc Nut. These fruits are collected, dried well and available as raw material. After removing the skin, its seeds are used by our ancestors since thousands of years ago.
It is called as Kalarchikkai, Kuberatchi, Vajra Bheejam in Tamil, Fever Nut or Physic Nut in English, Kalkaranj or Katkaliji in Hindi, Gachakaya in Telugu, Gajkaai in Kannada, Kalanchi in Malayalam. Its Botanical Name is Caesalpinia Bonducella.
