Kadukkai is a big tree grows in India and Sri Lanka. Its fruits are collected, dried well, broken to remove the seeds of Kadukkai. After removing the seeds, the fruit part is ground into very fine powder and then filtered to make it free from unground particles. It is being used by our ancestors since thousands of years ago.
It is called as Ink Nut or Myrobalan in English, Harad or Haritaki in Hindi, Alsikkai in Telugu, Kayastha in Malayalam, Alala Kayi in Malayalam. Its Botanical Name is Terminalia Chebula.
