Marutha Maram is a very big, strong tree grows in all places of India. Though it can be classified into white and red varieties, their natural properties and effects are same. Its bark is dried well, broken into pieces and ground into very fine powder. It is then filtered to make it free from unground particles. It is Maruthampattai Powder. It is being used by our people in many Siddha and Ayurveda Medicines as an ingredient. It is good for our health. 

Its other names in Tamil are Arjunam, Poothavam, Poolathi. It is called as Arjun Tree in English, Arjun or Kahuva in Hindi, Maddi in Telugu, Marutha in Malayalam, Kaidaryavu in Kannada. Its Botanical Name is Terminalia Arjuna.
