Korai is a small grass plant grows in all cropfields and in wet lands. Its potato like, starch filled roots called as Koraikilangu in Tamil are collected, dried well, and ground into very fine powder. It is then filtered to make it free from unground particles. It is being used by our ancestors since ancient days.

It is called as Koraikilangu in Tamil, Nut Grass or Coco Grass in English, Motha or Nagarmotha in Hindi, Tunga Mustalu in Telugu, Muthanga or Karimuttan in Malayalam, Tunge Hullu or Bhadra Mushti or Bhadra Musthi in Kannada. Its Botanical Name is Cyperus Rotundus.
