Keelanelli or Bhumi Amlaki plant is a small plant normally grows in road sides and in wet lands. The complete keezhanelli plant including leaves, stems and roots are collected, dried well, ground into very fine powder. It is then filtered to make it free from unground particles and fibres associated with the roots. It is being used by our ancestors since ancient days.

It is called as Keelanelli in Tamil, Country Gooseberry in English, Jangliamli, Jaramala, Bhumi Amla in Hindi, Nelausiri in Telugu, Nelanelligida in Kannada. Its Botanical Name is Phyllanthus Niruri.
