Avarai is a small plant that grows in road sides and in hill stations. Its flowers called as Avarampoo in Tamil are collected, dried well and available online as raw material. It is being used by our ancient Siddhars in making various herbal medicines. Nowadays it is being used as a food item by many people.
It is called as Senna Flowers in English, Tarwar Phool in Hindi, Tagedu in Telugu, Tangedi in Kannada, Avaram in Malayalam. Its Botanical Names are Senna Auriculata, and Cassia Auriculata.
