Athi or Atthi is a big tree grows in all climate conditions of India. Naattu Athi also called as Country Fig having a prolongated, leaves with sharp ends is the original Athi of Indian Origin. This Athi leaves are collected, dried well, and ground into very fine powder. It is then filtered to make it free from unground leaf parts. It is being used by our ancestors since ancient days.
It is called as Country Fig in English, Atthi in Hindi, Atthi and Anjeer in Telugu and Malayalam, Udumpara in Kannada, Anjira in Gujarathi. Its Botanical Name is Ficus Carica and Ficus Racemosa.
