Amukkara also called as Ashwagandha by people is a small plant grows in all areas of India. Its roots are called as Amukkara Kilangu in Tamil and it is Ashwagandha Roots in Hindi. Its roots are cleaned, dried well and ground into very fine powder. Then the powder is filtered to make it free from unground roots. It is being used by our ancestors since ancient days.

It is called as Winter Cherry, Indian Ginseng in English, Aswagandha in Hindi, Vajigandha, Ponneru in Telugu, Amukkaram in Malayalam, Sogade beru in Kannada. It is also called as Amukkiri, Irulichevi in Tamil.
